Force Majeure: Market development for packaging and plastic products

April 23, 2026

(Versions in Français / English / Italiano please see below)

Ladies and Gentlemen

The situation on the international commodity and procurement markets remains tense and has not eased in recent weeks.

Price trends in the plastics sector are continuing. In addition to packaging solutions based on polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), products made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are also increasingly affected. Furthermore, adhesive tapes made from all types of plastic and packaging solutions made from PVC are also increasingly affected by price increases and limited availability. There are also signs of a bottleneck in the availability of certain plastic granulates and recycled granulates.

In various product groups, price adjustments are being implemented at short notice and sometimes at very short notice. If these adjustments are not accepted, manufacturers are increasingly forced to cancel confirmed orders. At the same time, price validity periods are becoming shorter and are sometimes only confirmed at short notice. In addition, suppliers are increasingly no longer guaranteeing binding quantities or are making confirmed volumes subject to reservations or adjustments.

Rising energy, transportation and logistics costs are also leading to corresponding cost adjustments for paper products, corrugated cardboard and wooden pallets.

Against this background, we reserve the right to adjust prices, availability, delivery periods and delivery quantities if corresponding changes are required by our suppliers or by market conditions. This also applies to submitted offers and confirmed orders, insofar as we ourselves are affected and this is legally permissible.

This situation is to be classified as an extraordinary market disruption and a case of force majeure.

For you, this means that prices, availability and delivery times may change at short notice.

We are in close contact with our suppliers and constantly review alternative procurement sources.

For critical products, we recommend early requirements planning and timely coordination.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your understanding.

Madame, Monsieur,

The situation on the international markets for primary materials and supplies remains tense and has not improved in recent weeks.

The price trends in the plastics sector are continuing. In addition to packaging solutions based on polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), products made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are also becoming more and more affected. In addition, adhesive rubbers in plastic materials of all types, as well as PVC packaging solutions, are now also affected by price and availability restrictions. In addition, a pandemic concerning the availability of certain plastic pellets and recycled pellets is beginning to take shape.

In various product segments, price adjustments are applied for a very short period of time, sometimes with an extraordinarily reduced price. In the event of non-acceptance of these adjustments, manufacturers are increasingly forced to cancel orders that have already been confirmed. In addition, the periods of validity of prices are increasing and are sometimes only confirmed for a short period of time. In addition, suppliers are no longer systematically guaranteeing fixed quantities or adapting the confirmed volumes.

Paper products, paperboard and wooden pallets are also affected by cost increases, particularly due to the rise in energy, transportation and logistics costs.

In this context, we reserve the right to adjust the prices, availability, delivery times and quantities if the corresponding modifications are made by our suppliers or due to market conditions. This also applies to offers made and orders confirmed, insofar as we are concerned and within the limits authorized by the law.

This situation can be regarded as an exceptional disturbance of the market and a case of force majeure.

For you, this means that prices, availability and delivery times may change in the short term. We remain in close contact with our suppliers and continue to evaluate alternative sources of supply.

For the critical products, we recommend an anticipatory planning of the needs as well as a coordination in advance.

Market developments in packaging and plastic products

Dear Sir or Madam,

The situation in international raw material and procurement markets remains strained and has not eased in recent weeks.

Price developments in the plastics sector continue. In addition to packaging solutions based on polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), products made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are increasingly affected. Furthermore, adhesive tapes made from all types of plastics as well as packaging solutions made from PVC are now also affected by price increases and limited availability. In addition, a supply bottleneck in the availability of certain plastic granulates as well as recycled granulates is beginning to emerge.

Across various product groups, price adjustments are being implemented at very short notice, in some cases with extremely limited lead time. In the event of non-acceptance of these adjustments, manufacturers are increasingly forced to cancel already confirmed orders. At the same time, price validity periods are shortening and are in some cases confirmed only at short notice. In addition, suppliers are increasingly unable to guarantee binding quantities or are adjusting previously confirmed volumes.

Paper products, corrugated board and wooden pallets also continue to be affected by cost adjustments, particularly due to developments in energy, transport and logistics costs.

Against this background, we reserve the right to adjust prices, availability, delivery times and quantities where such changes are required due to supplier actions or market conditions. This also applies to submitted quotations and confirmed orders, to the extent that we are affected and where legally permissible.

This situation may be considered an exceptional market disruption and a case of force majeure.

For you, this means that prices, availability and delivery times may change at short notice.

We remain in close contact with our suppliers and continue to evaluate alternative sourcing options.

For critical products, we recommend early planning of requirements and timely coordination.

Should you have any questions, we remain at your disposal.

Gentili Signore e Signori,

The situation on the international markets for prime materials and approval remains tense and has not changed in the last few months.

The rise in prices in the plastic materials sector is continuing. In addition to the solutions for balancing on the basis of polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), there is also growing interest in products made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). In addition, there is also a growing interest in plastic nastri in all types of plastic and PVC packaging solutions due to price increases and availability limits.

In various groups of products, the price adjustments are applied with very short, sometimes extremely low, price reductions. In the event of insufficient application of these price adjustments, manufacturers are even more likely to cancel orders that have already been placed. At the same time, i periodi di validità dei prezzi si riducono e in alcuni casi vengono confermati solo a breve termine.

This situation can be considered an exceptional market distortion and a case of force majeure.

Cordiali saluti
