It is with great dismay and deep sadness that we bid farewell to Bernhard Schmidt, co-founder of PRODINGER Verpackung AG, who passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2026.
Bernhard Schmidt founded PRODINGER Verpackung AG together with the Prodinger family in 1994 and played a key role in shaping the company as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO for over two decades. With entrepreneurial vision, great commitment and tireless creativity, he built up the company and helped to develop it into what it is today until his retirement in 2014.
He was a visionary who always looked ahead and sought new paths. At the same time, he remained down-to-earth in his thoughts and actions and deeply committed to the values of a family business. His understanding of leadership was characterized by clarity and ambition - and by caring at its core. Bernhard Schmidt was a strong entrepreneurial personality who trusted his employees, delegated responsibility to them and gave them the freedom they needed to develop. You could always rely on his support.
In addition to his professional passion, he was very devoted to his family. His loss is particularly painful for his wife Romy, who also worked for the company for many years, and for his two children.
Bernhard Schmidt was also a person with a great zest for life outside the company. He loved motorcycling, traveling and the joy of good food - an expression of his open, enjoyable and curious nature.
In Bernhard Schmidt, we are not only losing a formative entrepreneur, but also a person who has shaped PRODINGER Verpackung AG in the long term and whose values will live on in our company.
We bid farewell in grateful memory and great appreciation.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife Romy and his children. We wish them much strength and confidence during this difficult time.
