When people at PRODINGER Verpackung AG talk about experience, market knowledge, and down-to-earthness, one name almost automatically comes to mind: Kai-Uwe Krieg. He has been part of the PRODINGER world for over two decades and knows the packaging industry inside and out.

From the warehouse to the field: Kai-Uwe Krieg learned the packaging business from the ground up
Kai-Uwe began his career at PRODINGER back in 2002 in Germany, where he completed his apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk. Early on, he gained experience in a wide variety of departments: from adhesive and strapping technology to films and corrugated cardboard, and on to cardboard packaging.
His time at the warehouse had a particularly formative influence on him: building pallets correctly, securing goods, strapping and wrapping them, conducting quality checks, and loading trucks. That was „hands-on packaging.“ This practical knowledge has stayed with him to this day and is a major asset when advising his clients.
In 2011, Kai-Uwe moved to PRODINGER Verpackung AG in Switzerland. There, too, he took on a wide variety of roles, serving as a team leader in the packaging and film division, playing an active role in stretch testing, and maintaining close contact with customers. In mid-2024, he made the logical transition to a purely field sales role. There, his experience brings significant added value.
Intermediary, facilitator, and voice of the customers
Today, Kai-Uwe Krieg works as a sales representative, primarily in eastern Switzerland. He sees his main role not just in selling, but in acting as a mediator: between buyers with budget constraints and end-users with process responsibilities.
His goal is to understand both sides and develop solutions that work—both economically and practically. In doing so, he serves as a reliable liaison to the company for many clients, while also acting as an honest sounding board to the outside world.
Complex inquiries, quotes, or last-minute challenges? Kai-Uwe Krieg works efficiently, directly, and with a focus on solutions; he operates independently within the system, always with the goal of providing clarity quickly.
Small changes with a big impact
What he finds particularly exciting about his work are the tangible results: when small changes lead to big results. One example that has particularly stuck with him is the switch from three different types of film to a single type. The performance remained the same, but this resulted in a savings of about 30 tons of material per year.
For Kai-Uwe Krieg, it is precisely these kinds of optimizations that make packaging consulting so appealing. And even in high-pressure situations—such as „panic calls“ due to material shortages—he remains calm, thinks outside the box, and finds alternatives.
A team player with an open schedule
Kai-Uwe Krieg sees himself as part of a close-knit team in which many colleagues have known each other for decades. Even though he now works in the field, he remains deeply involved: He is frequently asked for suggestions, supports his colleagues, and pitches in himself—preferably right on-site with the customer.
Transparency and collaboration are important to him. Honesty is also part of that for him: he addresses uncomfortable topics directly—respectfully, but clearly.
Commitment, responsibility, and passion—even outside of work
In addition to his day job, Kai-Uwe Krieg has been passionately involved with the fire department for many years. He is an active firefighter who responds to about 100 calls a year, a trained platoon leader, and was responsible for youth programs in the Lörrach district for over a decade. He also serves as an instructor for children’s and youth group leaders at the Baden-Württemberg State Fire Academy.
He leads a varied personal life as well: a family man with a young son, he’s active in sports, an avid SC Freiburg soccer fan, and loves to travel—preferably to places with sun, sea, and islands.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, Kai-Uwe Krieg hopes that PRODINGER will remain agile, view change as an opportunity, and maintain the strong team spirit within the organization. He sees significant challenges, particularly in the area of sustainability, but also enormous potential.
With his experience, openness, and deep understanding of packaging processes, Kai-Uwe Krieg is a vital part of PRODINGER Verpackung AG, both for our customers and for the team.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Kai for his many years of dedication to PRODINGER, and we look forward to continuing to work with him.
